Mostly, I think we should be fully operational in a week or so. Look for updates to the outdates pages and uploads of the programmes and so on. It all needs a little TLC at the moment but hopefully it wont take too long.

Well recently seems to have been a busy time in open source updates land (something about northern hemisphere summer break), with Wordpress going to version 2.6. A few new features are nice but the improved stability and speed that comes with every upgrade is much appreciated. Thanks also to Zenphoto who have upgraded to 1.2 and provide our nice web gallery. Thanks to all the plugin writers also – Akismet, PXS Mail form, Random Image Selector, Recent posts and Wordpress.com Stats. Also thanks must go to our host, who still has a server in Adelaide even though he has moved to Seattle!

There are Heaps of Rover Chalet Photos available now and hopefully we get some Flashevanglistic ones up here soon too.

So Cameron has finally got around to updating the Aesir RC website, that can be found at http://rovers.sa.scouts.com.au/aesir/. It has a healthy dab of photos but chances are you’ve seen them all before! Also, read about his ramble and find about all the great things that happened …

EDIT: Photos are now reoperational , We now should be more reliable and quicker. If there are any problems please email me because I will be away and not checking very often, I will pass it on to someone who can fix it …

Following a server upgrade, photos are down again until I get my access to the server back.

If anyone has pictures for the members page that would be awesome. Especially one of our crew leader! Pictures are better when they are of someone else, cos there is more to laugh at and if they come with a comment that is good also. Saves me having to think up somethinng witty (Like that’s going to happen). Leave a comment …

If anyone has another other pictures of flash people doing flash stuff, then email me, and we’ll try and get them on the website.

Click here for pictures from the Bogong Rover Chalet this year

I’ve put my pics up on a free service called Flickr. Basically you can upload pictures for free (with an account) and store them under certain tags to find them easily. So any of you out there with (decent) pictures from Flash events can do the same. Just tag them using ‘flashrovers’ (one word) and some appropriate tag for what they are from (e.g. ‘bogongroverchalet2006′). Then just tell one of the webmasters and well add them to the Flash Fotography album.

ps We can’t really host all the pics ourselves cos we dont have lots of space. Somebody should probably create a flash rovers group on Flickr One day we will make the album page beautiful ( i just dont have time tonight) and hopefully automated.

I will be moving the wordpress installation to a subfolder on the server for tidyness and betterness. Expect at the least 10 minutes downtime, or at the worst.. welll.. I’d rather not think about it

Update: Well, the site was out of action for a whole afternoon because I went to see Kate halfway through my tinkering. All her fault Anyone who missed out on some vital info, tough luck – Kate has priority over my time! Everything should be good now, but if you notice any problems, please drop me an email.

Upgrading… Last time there was a couple of minor hitches, but nothing serious.

Communication

Well there are two forms of communication on the internet for flash stuff, there’s the email list, which hopefully you are subscribed to and also these blog posts. If you would like an account you can get one .

Ads

I plastered these funky google ads in a few spots around the website, there a bit of experiment that I will prolly get rid of cos there making no money for the crew … If you are greatly offended then I can remove them now or if you have a thought or two post a comment.

Printing

Most pages on the website are now easily printable by clicking the ‘Print this post’ or ‘Print this page’ under ‘Meta’ in the sidebar, this will make the format more readable (this is mainly for the program when it becomes better … )

Themes

Another little thing going on with Themes (how the website displays) have a look at them in the sidebar and if you have any particular thoughts about liking other ones than the main one, we may consider changing it. This one (fluidityrs) is the most polished for our needs because we think it is the one we will use.
